"Harassed, attacked, deported... We lived in a permanent‚ cold fear!" says one of only two Istanbul-Greeks who still have shops in the European centre of Istanbul, Istiklal Street. Before 1950, Istanbul Greeks made up half of the shops on Istiklal. The process that took off on 6-7 September 1955 with a pogrom has resulted with only 2.000 people remaining from the 150.000 İstanbul Greeks. What kind of life was it -as minorities- and how is it today? Will the different cultures on the Bosporus disappear while some Istanbul-Greeks who have lived in Greece or elsewhere wish to return to their hometown now?
The director will be introducing the film on 13 APRIL SATURDAY, PERA, 19.00
