Towards the sad happy ending

The festival awards will be given out, and the final films of the finals weekend will be screened at the festival... The closing gala and the awards ceremony will be aired live on CNN Turk at 20.00.

THE MAN WITHOUT A CAMERA: ALAN BERLINER RETROSPECTIVE
One of the most significant documentary film-makers of our time, the complete works of Alan Berliner are being screened as part of the Istanbul Film Festival in collaboration with Documentarist, which is celebrating its seventh year. Alan Berliner had visited Istanbul as a guest of Documentarist in June 2013, and had given a master class. However, because theatres around Taksim were closed during the Gezi protests which erupted during his visit, the screenings of his films were cancelled. Therefore, one of the United States' most important documentary masters, Berliner's films will reach film buffs in Turkey for the first time at the Istanbul Film Festival, and can be seen at Akbank Sanat today and tomorrow. Today's screenings are as follows: 16.00 Wide Awake 79’; 18.00 Intimate Stranger 10’ + Nobody’s Business 60’.

WHAT A PAIR!
Following the screening of one of Turkish cinema's master directors Halit Refiğ’s Bir Türke Gönül Verdim / I Loved A Turk at 11.00 at Beyoğlu, the pairing's second film, Ferzan Özpetek’s Hamam will be screening at 13.30.

WHERE ARE YOU MY LOVE?
Garnering great attention from international festivals his films Plan B and Ausente, the screening of Marco Berger’s latest film Hawaii as part of the Where Are You My Love? section will be held at 16.00 at Beyoğlu and attended by the director. From the same section and starring the handsome actor  Christophe Paou, also a guest of the festival, L'inconnu du lac / Stranger by the Lake will be screening at 21.30 at Atlas.

MIDNIGHT MADNESS
Indonesian directors the Mo Brothers' latest film, premiering at Sundance, Killers successfully mixes elements of horror and thriller, while being heavily influenced and aided by technology. Don't miss the film's screening at Atlas at 24.00.

FOR THE TINY FESTIVAL GOERS
The festival's “Kids Menu” category provides the opportunity to see productions garnering attention from international children's films festivals for the whole family. Don't miss the chance to watch Amazonia, Thierry Ragobert's silent film following a monkey who gets lost in the forest, with your kids at Nişantaşı Citylife City’s at 13.30.

CHANCE TO WATCH THE “GOLDEN TULIP”S
The film receiving the Best Film award from the Golden Tulip International Competition, which will be announced during tonight's closing gala, will be screening on Sunday at 13.30, while the Golden Tulip National Competition winner will be screening at 21.30 at Atlas.

WHEN HORROR COMES TO CINEMA
German film critic Rüdiger Suchsland's directorial debut Caligari: Wie der Horror ins Kino Kam / Caligari: When Horror Comes to Cinema places Robert Weine's expressionist classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at its centre, while examining the reflections of expressionism movement in cinema and the Weimar Rebuplic. Suchsland will be attending the film's screening at 13.30 at Atlas 2.

TWO MASTERS
It's rare in cinema for one master to tell the story of his friendship with another. Che strano chiamarsi Federico, Scola Racconta Fellini / How Strange to be Named Federico, Scola Narrates Fellini is just that. To witness the friendship of Federico Fellini and Ettore Scola on the silver screen, don't miss the film's screening at Beyoğlu at 13.30.
