Shakespeare´s classic comedy is given a contemporary spin, adapted and directed by one of TV and movie world´s biggest cult directors, Joss Whedon. Shot in 12 days, and using the original text, this dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of love tells the story of the world´s least likely lovers, Beatrice and Benedick. With the cast including some actors familiar from Whedon´s previous work, such as Buffy, Angel and The Avengers, the film is slated to be released in the US in June. The film opens with Benedick and his friend Claudio who have just returned home after a successful campaign abroad. The acid-tongued Benedick teases Claudio over matters of love. Benedick´s scorn for love is matched by that of his long-time nemesis Beatrice. As the lovestruck Claudio makes plans to marry, Benedick and Beatrice resume the "merry war" of insults they have long waged.
