DON´T TOUCH THE WHITE WOMAN |
TOUCHE PAS À LA FEMME BLANCHE
| Director: Marco Ferreri / Cast: Catherine Deneuve, Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Philippe Noiret, Ugo Tognazzi, Alain Cuny, Serge Reggiani, Darry Cowl, Monique Chaumette, Daniele Dublino / France-Italy / 1974 / DVD / Colour / 108´ / French; English & Turkish s.t.
Starring Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, Don´t Touch the White Woman is a surreal farce about the events leading up to General George Armstrong Custer´s last military operation, anachronistically re-enacted in an urban-renewal area of mid-1970s Paris (known as Les Halles). Combining references to Native American oppression, the Vietnam War, and the Algerian War, this thought-provoking and funny film still today manages to maintain its political edge.
