One morning in August 2012, renowned Syrian photographer Issa Touma witnessed young, local men lugging sandbags into his street, stacking them up as a checkpoint barrier. It would turn out to be the start of the Syrian uprising in the city of Aleppo. Touma grabbed his camera and spent nine days holed up in his apartment, recording what was happening outside through a cracked opening of his window. The short, episodic film gives a personal and unprecedented view onto how war suddenly can invade a neighbourhood, and turn life upside down from one day to another.
