She is an Iranian filmmaker and women's rights activist. She wrote and directed her first film in 2003, Women Without Shadows depicting the lives of homeless and abandoned women in a state-run shelter, which was awarded in several international film festivals. She wrote, directed, and produced various documentaries, including Travelogue, award-winning film that was shown in 2010 at the event "A Day in Tehran" created by the Cinématheque in Paris, Son of the Soil (2006), Here Is Naragh (2009), and Mr. Vali (2016). She worked in numerous documentary films, feature films and TV series as assistant producer, director of photography, and assistant director since 1999. She has also been active in the women’s movement. She was awarded the freedom of speech award, George Prize, from Austria in 2015. She directed her first fiction feature film Son-Mother in 2019 which premiered at Toronto. The film has been awarded The Amnesty Award of Febio Fest in Prague, the Audience Award at Istanbul Film Festival, and Special Jury Award at Rome Film Fest 2020. Son-Mother was screened at numerous international film festivals. Her credits include line producer in the feature film Sembra mio Figlio / Just Like My Son directed by Costanza Quatriglio; and assistant producer in the Iranian parts of the documentary series Joanna Lumley’s Silk Road Adventures.
