Following the conclusion of the training and workshops of the 19th edition of Meetings on the Bridge, the awards were presented to the award winning projects and teams. Further details can be found here.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE 2024 WORK IN PROGRESS WORKSHOP SELECTION ANNOUNCED
Selected project holders, directors and producers, will have a chance to screen a rough cut of their film, and schedule meetings with international film programmers and film professionals to get advice and support in order to complete their film. This year’s selection includes 5 feature films and 1 documentary from Turkey. Further details can be found here.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE AWARDS ARE ANNOUNCED
Supported by Anadolu Efes, Meetings on the Bridge had five documentary and fourteen feature film projects, as well as four series projects. Throughout the programme, the projects had their debut presentations. Six feature films and two documentary films in post-production had screenings between 12 and 14 April, which took place on online screening platforms only open for film professionals. At the end of the training and workshops of Meetings on the Bridge, supported by Mattepost Post-Production, awards were granted to the award winning project and film teams. SERIES ON THE BRIDGE PROJECTS ARE ANNOUNCED
Meetings on the Bridge, supported by Anadolu Efes, continues to bring producers, directors and screenwriters from Turkey and neighboring countries together with international film professionals. Series on the Bridge, sponsored by OGM Pictures, will feature 4 TV series projects. The writers, directors and producers of 4 selected projects will have one-to-one meetings with international series and television professionals (producers, distributors, festival or fund managers, TV channel and digital platform representatives) in order to develop the production and international co-production potentials of TV series. MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE WORK IN PROGRESS WORKSHOP SELECTION IS ANNOUNCED
Meetings on the Bridge, supported by Anadolu Efes, continues to bring together producers, directors and screenwriters from Turkey and neighbouring countries with international film professionals. The films that will participate in the Meetings on the Bridge Work in Progress workshop, where feature-length fiction films and documentaries in post-production will be presented internationally, are selected. Film projects evaluated by the Meetings on the Bridge selection committee will make international presentations at Work in Progress and seek support to complete their films. The selection includes 6 feature films and 2 documentary films from Turkey, here is the selection.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE AWARDS ARE ANNOUNCED

Organised within the scope of the Istanbul Film Festival and as part of the Common Cultural Heritage: Preservation and Dialogue Between Turkey and the EU–II (CCH-II) Grant Scheme financially supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the European Union, Meetings on the Bridge announced the award winners.

Supported by Anadolu Efes, Meetings on the Bridge had its first hybrid edition. The selection included one documentary and nineteen feature film projects, as well as six series projects. Throughout the programme, the projects had their debut presentations. Five feature films and one documentary film in post-production had closed the programme of screenings between 14 and 16 April, which took place both on-site and online.

Creative teams in the Series on the Bridge Workshop, sponsored by OGM Pictures, received training sessions from sector professionals. Film Development Workshop teams worked on script, pitching, production, distribution and social media management.

In collaboration with the Innovation supporter Wideangle of Meetings on the Bridge, the awards were presented to a selection of projects. The awards will support the teams in completing their films.

Work in Progress Awards

Work in Progress awards were presented by the jury members Elma Tataragic (Sarajevo Film Festival), Yorgos Krassakopoulos (Thessaloniki Film Festival) and Antione Simkine (Les Films D’antoine).

ANADOLU EFES AWARD: THE EMPIRE OF THE RABBITS
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
For a film that pushes the audience into the rabbit hole of the childhood melancholy the Anadolu EFES award goes to The Empire Of The Rabbits.

CINE-CHROMATIX POST-PRODUCTION AWARD: ROAD TO TOKYO

For a visual contemplation on competitiveness and beauty of the world of sports the Cine chromatix post production award goes to the Road to Tokyo

FRAGMANHOUSE AWARD: ALMOST ENTIRELY A SLIGHT DISASTER

For a film that explores the energy and the anxieties of the younger generation the Fragmanhouse award goes to Almost Entirely A Slight Disaster.

DAİRE CREATIVE KEY ART DESIGN AWARD: TULLIANA
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
For a film immersed in mystery and metaphor the Daire Creative Award goes to TULLIANA.

Film Development Awards

The jury members of the Film Development Workshop, Esther Bannenberg (Abc-Cinemien), Faruk Güven (TRT Cinema), Indiana Perrier (Pulsar Content), Pamela Bienzobas (Locarno Film Festival) and Oana Giurgiu (Libra Film) selected the award winners after the pitching sessions that took place between 14 and 16 April.

CNC AWARD: MY MOTHERS’ TALE
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
The personal family story of Mizgin Müjde Arslan shows us the different generations of mothers. Their dilemmas set against the historical and political backdrop in parts of Europe and beyond, which are even nowadays unsettling for families. Impressive on the level of the personal search but also fascinating in terms of the journey within colourful cultures surrounding.

TRT SPECIAL AWARD: LO-FI
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
Due to the ability to establish a distinctive audio-visual language between narrative and experimental while reflecting the simple but powerful moments of daily life, the feeling of home, the traces of a relationship, the memories connected to time and space, and the smooth passage of time as in life itself, TRT Special Award goes to “Lo-Fi”, debut film by Alican Durbaş.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE AWARD: FROM A SLIGHT MOCKERY
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
With the MOB award, the jury wishes to encourage the further development of a promising project still at an early stage. We were seduced by the original proposal and approach of this inspiring creative team, and are eager to see FROM A SLIGHT MOCKERY thrive and reach the screens.

MATTEPOST POST-PRODUCTION ONLINE AWARD: AS SHADOWS FADE
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
A delicate complex love story that is taking also the protagonist by surprise, was chosen by the director for her debut feature film. We were convinced by the visual approach and we decided to offer the Mattepost Post-Production Online Award to “As Shadows Fade”.

MELODİKA SOUND AWARD: DJ AHMET
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
A beautiful story about a young man’s emancipation through music. The coproduction highlights the way cultural heritage transcends borders.

Strong and distinctive new voice with a visually promising project. Salomeya Bauer is someone to watch!

MEDITERRENEAN FILM INSTITUTE (MFI) SCRIPT WORKSHOP AWARD: HETEROTOPIA
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
First of all we would like to congratulate all the projects taking part in MoB this year - and note that it has been an excellent year in terms of quality of the projects. Sadly we can only award one scholarship per year and we reached the decision to give it to the project HETEROTOPIA by Veysel Çelik. We also singled out the project AS SHADOWS FADE which will be our substitute scholarship for the year.

SEYAP AWARD: LO-FI
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
The SEYAP Production Consultancy award goes to the project LO-FI and its producer İpek Erden, for her approach, courage and professionalism in film producing, with a project that seeks a fresh voice in Turkish cinema.

TRANSYLVANIA PITCH STOP AWARD: AS SHADOWS FADE
JURY’S DELIBERATION:
A mature project, with strong international potential will get the chance to meet european co-producers at Transilvania Pitch Stop.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE ANNOUNCED AWARD WINNERS OF THE ONLINE 15TH EDITION
Following the declaration of World Health Organisation about COVID-19 as pandemic, Meetings on the Bridge took the necessary precautions and performed its program online taking into consideration the urgent timeline of the filmmakers attending the MoB workshops with their films and projects.

2020 MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE WILL BE HELD ONLINE ON 14-17 APRIL
Following the declaration of World Health Organisation about COVID-19 as pandemic, the international co-production, training and networking platform organised within the scope of the İstanbul Film Festival, Meetings on the Bridge (MoB) took the necessary precautions and will perform its programme online on 14-17 April with the support of Anadolu Efes, taking into consideration the urgent timeline of the filmmakers attending the MoB workshops with their films and projects.

On the 15th edition of MoB, 50.000 TL TRT Special Award will be presented to a project in development with the contribution of Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).

The teams of the 29 films and projects participating at the Film Development Workshop, Neighbours Platform and Work in Progress have completed the script development, production, marketing, social media and pitching trainings in March. They will conduct more than 250 online meetings on 14-17 April with international producers, festival and fund delegates, and distributors joining MoB online from 23 countries.

For the first time this year, the presentations of books and series will be made online as part of Film Development Workshop.

Award winning films and projects will be announced on 17 April following the meetings with the jury.

MEETINGS ON THE BRIDGE IS GOING ONLINE ON THE 15TH YEAR
Following the declaration of World Health Organisation about COVID-19 as pandemic and taking into consideration of the pressure on the filmmakers necessary measures were taken to perform the activities of MoB online. After the recent on location and online training with experts the filmmakers from Turkey and the neighbours selected to Film Development Workshop, Neighbours Platform and Work In Progress will hold one to one and jury meetings with international industry guests at online platforms.
WHAT’S NEW AT MoB?
MoB is including a drama series project and a book in the selection for the first time. After making a focus on book adaptations in the past years this year MoB is introducing award winning author Burhan Sönmez’s novel Istanbul Istanbul to be presented by Kalem Agency. The border between cinema and series is shifting as award winning directors are bringing high quality productions to our homes. This edition of MoB will present a drama series project, Shadow Hotel, written by Hakan Bıçakçı, Ramin Matin, Emine Yıldırım.

Meetings on the Bridge presents an award at Batumi International Art-House Film Festival - Alternative Wave!
Alternative Wave, the industry platform of Batumi International Art House Film Festival, was initiated in 2016 with the collaboration of Meetings on the Bridge is offering training on script, project development, pitching and packaging to the filmmakers with projects. The teams of 8 projects selected has worked with Gülin Üstün, the Head of Meetings on the Bridge, and pitching trainer Ayşegül for 3 days in the scope of Alternative Wave.

At the end of the workshop, the Georgian project You Look Like Your Father has received the Meetings on the Bridge Neighbours Award. The director Levan Lomjaria and the producer Vako Kirkitadze will have the chance make the international presentation of the project at Meetings on the Bridge in April.

A good trailer is one of the most important marketing tools for the well planned promotion and marketing of the film. The purpose of this talk is to emphasize the importance of the trailer which is the first moment the film greets the audience and share some crucial tips from acclaimed editors Osman Bayraktaroğlu, Benjamin Mirguet and Marketing Communications and Cultural Manager İmre Tezel.

A new partnership between Meetings on the Bridge and New Cinema Network that is organized under the scope of Rome Film Festival has been initiated this year. With this partnership New Cinema Network will start to select projects from Turkey and especially from Meetings on the Bridge.

2014 Film Development projects Reproduction (director: Atasay Koç, producers: Yağmur Dolkun, Çağlar Kanber) and The One Without a Script (director: Alpgiray Uğurlu, producers: Mustafa Eren, Umut Bayoğlu) has been selected to the film training program Film TEEP at Romania. Meetings on the Bridge and Film TEEP initiated a partnership this year for the first time.

In addition to the Best Film; The Impeccables also receives the Best Director and Director’s Association Selection -  Best Director awards and The Fall From Eden receives the Jury's Special Award with Rojin Tekin and The Best Supporting Actress with Gülistan Acet.

The Best First Film Award of the Antalya Film Festival goes to The Blue Wave ( Director Zeynep Dadak, Merve Kayan, producers: Yamaç Okur- Bulut Film,Zeynep Dadak-Fena Film, Michael Eckelt-Riva Film, Floor Onrust- Family Affair Film, Nikos Moutselos: Two Thirty Five) Blue Wave  has received the  2011 Meetings on the Bridge Binger Lab Script Consultancy Scholarship. Zeynep Dadak and Merve Kayan who are also the scriptwriters of the film are awarded with the Best Screenplay while Çiçek Kahraman who is the editor of the film receives The Best Film Editing Award.

A session titled "Focus on Turkish Cinema" was realised within the scope of the Haifa Film Festival with the collaboration of Istanbul Film Festival Meetings on the Bridge. Azize Tan (Director of Istanbul Film Festival), Gülin Üstün (Head of Meetings on the Bridge), Nadir Öperli (producer- Bulut Film) and Zeynep Özbatur (producer- Zeyno Film) got together with filmmakers from Israel. In the session moderated by Katriel Schory, the Executive Director of the Israel Film Fund, the production and funding conditions of both countries were evaluated and filmmakers shared their experiences.

"Georgia-Turkey Co-production Meeting" was realized within the scope of the Batumi Film Festival with the collaboration of Istanbul Film Festival Meetings on the Bridge and the participation of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism Department Head Enver Arslan, Istanbul Film Festival Director Azize Tan, Head of Meetings on the Bridge Gülin Ustun, Manager of the Batumi Film Festival Zviad Eliziani, Georgian National Cinema Center Director Nana Janelidze, director and producer Özcan Alper (Nar Film) and distributor Emre Akpınar (M3). The main focus of the panel was co-production conditions between two countries. Enver Arslan announced the outlines of the new cinema law in Turkey. In accordance with the upcoming law, future co-production possibilities with Turkey will be easier since the necessity for a main Turkish producer in co-productions will be removed.
