The opening film of the Venice Film Festival’s International is a debut feature produced by Terrence Malick. In his first film, documentary maker Carlo S. Hintermann, who has worked with Malick in The Tree of Life, builds a bridge between the past and the present in a story melding science and emotions. Starring Charles Dance, who had visited the festival in 2004 and Lotte Verbeek (from the series The Borgias and Outlander), the film follows an 18th century Prussian physician and a young doctor in present day whose lives and existences cross.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
