Applications are now open for the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund, organised within the scope of the Istanbul Film Festival by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), in collaboration with Meetings on the Bridge, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and the MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
Launched in 2011 to support feature-length co-production projects between Germany and Turkey, the fund is marking its 16th edition this year. All feature-length German-Turkish co-productions that have not yet begun shooting may apply until 13 August 2026.
The fund aims to support feature-length co-productions and strengthen cultural exchange between the two countries. Over the years, it has become an important platform for fostering creative collaboration, supporting new voices, and encouraging international co-production partnerships.
Selected projects are expected to reflect strong creative collaboration between filmmakers from Germany and Turkey, foster cross-cultural partnerships, and bring original cinematic stories to the screen.
Among the 77 films supported by the fund to date, the most recent highlight is Yellow Letters (İlker Çatak), which won the Golden Bear at the 2026 Berlinale.
Other supported titles include A Tale of Three Sisters (Emin Alper), which had its world premiere in the Berlinale Main Competition; Album (Mehmetcan Mertoğlu) at Cannes Critics' Week; All of a Sudden (Aslı Özge) at Berlinale Panorama; Until I Lose My Breath (Emine Emel Balcı) at Berlinale Forum; Blue Bicycle (Ümit Köreken) and Come to My Voice (Hüseyin Karabey) at Berlinale Generation; two films in the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Main Competition — The Wounded Angels (Kıvanç Sezer) and Brothers (Ömür Atay); When I'm Done Dying (Nisan Dağ) at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival; Zuhal (Nazlı Elif Durlu) at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival; and Les Enfants Terribles (Ahmet Necdet Cupur) at Visions du Réel. Ela with Hilmi and Ali (Ziya Demirel) returned from the Istanbul Film Festival with four awards, while Snow and the Bear (Selcen Ergun) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and The Dormitory (Nehir Tuna) at the Venice Film Festival.
Since its launch, the fund has provided a total of €1,221,000 in support to German-Turkish co-production projects.
