On photography, cinema and visual art with Shirin Neshat …

Iranian born, New Yorker artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat is among this year’s jury of “Human Rights in Cinema Competition”. The artist’s early works of video were predominantly of political content and criticism but she has lately shifted to more poetic descriptions and complicated narrations, and she has had her works of photography, video and film exhibited, shown and become part of many important collections. Her first feature film Women without Men filmed in 2009, she won the Silver Lion Award in the category of Best Director in Venice Film Festival; and her second feature film Looking for Oum Kulthum is among the Istanbul Film Festival’s films of this year. Shirin Neshat will be sharing her thoughts and experiences of photography, cinema and visual art tomorrow at 14:00 at Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat, and the talk will be moderated by film critic Esin Küçüktepepınar.
