21st Meetings on the Bridge Short Film Workshop selection announced

The 21st Meetings on the Bridge continues to bring filmmakers from Türkiye together with international film professionals. The selection for the Short Film Workshop, to be held on 14–16 April, has been announced. CUPRA, one of this year’s supporters of Meetings on the Bridge, will support emerging filmmakers with the CUPRA Short Film Award within the scope of the workshop. Following the jury evaluation to be held as part of the Short Film Workshop, selected projects will also receive the Lumix Pro Support Award, the Road to Clermont Participation Award organised with the support of the Institut français de Turquie, and the Square Eyes Counselling Award.

This year, 85 projects applied for the Short Film Workshop selection. The Meetings on the Bridge selection committee, comprising producer Armağan Lale; director Burcu Aykar; Miguel Dias, director of the Vila do Conde Film Festival and the Portuguese Short Film Agency; and Rimantė Daugėlaitė, director of the Lithuanian Short Film Agency, evaluated the applications and selected four projects.

Projects selected for the Short Film Workshop:

  • Mother Will Dad Be Angry With Me? (dir. Selin Aktaş Eyüboğlu, prod. Esin Özalp Öztürk, Rıfat Erkek, Emre Pekçakır, Onur Hakkı Eyüboğlu)
  • My Mother, Before Me (dir. Aslı Ekici, prod. Yağmur Dolkun)
  • Nalbeki: Unknown Story of a Well-known Design (dir. Mehmet Kaan Karataş, prod. Mehmet Kaan Karataş, Doğukan Demirkapılar)
  • Orlando (dir. Halime Usta, prod. Vildan Erşen)

In March, the selected project teams will receive comprehensive training from experienced national and international mentors on script development, presentation techniques, pitch deck and film package preparation, film financing, co-production, AI tools in filmmaking, and festival, distribution, and marketing strategies. Participants will make their first international presentation at Meetings on the Bridge and hold one-on-one meetings with industry professionals.

Following the jury’s evaluation at the end of the workshop, the CUPRA Short Film Award and the Lumix Pro Support Award will be presented to the selected projects.
