This year’s European Film Awards streamed live from Reykjavik on Saturday, 10 December, and Istanbul Film Festival was among an international network of streaming and broadcasting partners hosting the awards ceremony live on their websites. Celebrating the nominees and winners of the various categories of the 2022 European Film Awards given by the European Film Academy, which now unites 4,400 European film professionals.
The academy's CEO is Matthijs Wouter Knol, who was on the jury of the 2019 Istanbul Film Festival's International Competition, and the President is Agnieszka Holland. The ceremony honours the achievements of European cinema in the main categories (Film, Documentary, Animation, Comedy, Short, Discovery, Director, Actress, Actor, Screenwriter).
This year’s award European Lifetime Achievement was presented to Margarethe von Trotta; Palestinian director Elia Suleiman was awarded the European Achievement in World Cinema award.

European University Film Award: Jerzy Skolimowski (EO)
European actress: Vicky Krieps (Corsage)
Özcan Vardar and Eytan İpeker won the Excellence Award for Editing with Burning Days, directed by Emin Alper.
