This year’s European Film Awards will be streamed live from Berlin: SATURDAY, 11 December, 19.00 CET (21.00 Turkish time) and Istanbul Film Festival will be among an international network of streaming and broadcasting partners hosting the awards ceremony live on its website. Celebrating the nominees and winners of the various categories of the 2021 European Film Awards given by the European Film Academy, which now unites 4,100 European film professionals. The live streaming will begin at 20.30 (Turkish time.)

The complete list of nominees can be found on the academy’s official website and includes many European productions screened at the Istanbul Film Festival or Filmekimi. The academy's CEO is Matthijs Wouter Knol, who was on the jury of the 2019 Istanbul Film Festival's International Competition.

The ceremony honours the achievements of European cinema in the main categories (Film, Documentary, Discovery, Director, Actress, Actor, Screenwriter) and welcomes special guests and representatives of the European Film Academy, such as the current President Agnieszka Holland and board members Ildiko Enyedi, Nina Hoss, Baltasar Kormakur and many more. The different categories will be presented by internationally renowned talents, which we will reveal to you as soon as possible. The host of the Ceremony will be renowned actress and TV moderator Annabelle Mandeng.

This year’s award European Lifetime Achievement will be presented to Hungarian filmmaker Márta Mészaros; Danish director Susanne Bier will be awarded the European Achievement in World Cinema award. The award for European Innovative Storytelling goes to Steve McQueen for his outstanding series SMALL AXE.
