2017 JERUSALEM Best Film, Best Cinematography
In his award-winning first feature, Israeli director Eliran Elya takes viewers to a sentimental journey nourished by simplicity. Ran Danker of Eyes Wide Shot fame plays Assi, a screenwriter and poet, who is sent to a town in the south of Israel for community service when involved in a motorcycle accident. At first, Assi keeps a distance from his students to whom he teaches film. Will the narrowing of this distance open up new doors for Assi and his problematic students? Based on experiences from director Elya’s life, the film treats its characters compassionately and draws strength from its realistic and straightforward cinematic language.
Doubtful will have its European premiere at the Istanbul Film Festival.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
