Directed by Emir Kusturica, El Pepe Supreme Life is a documentary about José “El Pepe” Mujica, who was the president of Uruguay between 2010 and 2015. Based on the interviews Kusturica conducted with Mujica, who is known for opting to live in his modest home and drive his old car instead of moving into the Presidential Palace, and attending meetings wearing sandals, the documentary paints a humane portrait of a politician by known as the “the world’s poorest president”. The film follows El Pepe’s daily routine and touches upon the many facets of his life from his years in prison to his political speeches in various countries and his love for his wife.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
