Colin, a middle-aged man, invites his extended family to a New Year’s eve party at a mansion he rented for the occasion. The family members, each of which comes equipped with a variety of psychosis and a grudge against Colin for different reasons, reluctantly accept his invitation to which will definitely not be the party of the year. In this comedy-drama which he wrote with contribution from his cast, director Ben Wheatley (Kill List, High Rise) creates an atmosphere of impending doom that takes place under the shadow of Brexit with touches of Mike Leigh and the Dogme 95 movement.
