On a quest to find his mother who left him and his family in Norway to return to Japan twenty-seven years ago, Marius Lunde and his childhood friend, filmmaker Fredrik S. Hana embark on a journey and turn it into a unique filmmaking opportunity, telling each chapter of the journey through re-enactments of a different movie genre. The film also functions as a love letter to genre cinema, as it combines the cathartic experience of searching an estranged mother with genres like film-noir, horror, animation, and Samurai epic.
