Chloé Zhao continues to tell fascinating stories of the American West. One of the most talked-about films of the year, Nomadland is a road movie that follows a 60-something woman, who after losing everything in the Great Recession embarks on a journey, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad. Frances McDormand as the lead also is one of the producers of Nomadland, which was screened as part of Filmekimi 2020. Zhao’s The Rider had competed for the Golden Tulip in 2018 and won the FIPRESCI Award at the Istanbul Film Festival.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
