The debut feature film directed by graphic novel artist, illustrator and cartoonist Nine Antico, co-written by Céline Sciamma, just like her graphic novels, is inhabited by liberated young women in their 20s. Playlist follows Sophie, who just found out she landed that job at a famous Parisian publisher. However, when she tells her boyfriend Jean she is pregnant, everything explodes. She must return to waiting tables like her friend Julia, an aspiring actress. How can one survive in Paris under such conditions? Nine Antico works for the magazines Nova, Trax, and Muteen, and her books Coney Island Baby, Girls Don’t Cry, and Nous étions dix are published. Taking advantage of black & white cinematography, Playlist is a fresh, ironic, and sincere comedy on contemporary love, diving into the minds of mid-20s women.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
