With more than 40 films to his credit, master director Benoît Jacquot, who started his career in cinema as assistant director to Marguerite Duras, kept the promise he made to her in 1994, and finally made Suzanne Andler into a film. The titular Suzanna Andler is a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage, who finds liberty at her young lover. Suzanna views a beach house for her family‘s summer vacation. This day, this break in her routine, will mark a turning point in her life. Adapted from Duras‘ 1968 stage play, Suzanna Andler had its world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Suzanna while Niels Schneider, who is among the cast of Love Affair(s) in the April screenings of the festival shares the lead as her lover.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
