The Sparks Brothers, a dynamic, fun and extraordinary documentary is the creative result manifested through genuine admiration. In his first ever documentary, British director Edgar Wright, known for The Cornetto Trilogy and Baby Driver, focuses on Sparks, an art pop band he has been a fan of since the age of five. Musicians Ron (75) and Russell (73) Maer, who have managed to remain mysterious throughout their careers decided to take part in this film as they believed that Wright’s narration would enrich their story. The director brings testimonials from Sparks fans Beck, Björk, Flea, Jack Antonoff, “Weird Al” Yankovic together with stop motion, 2D animation and re-enactment videos in his unique style to tell a story that goes beyond a typical artist portrait. The film debuted at 2021 Sundance, had screenings at SXSW and Hot Docs, and will also be the opening film of Sundance London which will take place in July.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
