Yellow Fieber, which complements Kotzamani’s 2014 film Washingtonia, is a poetic daydream set in a yellow dust-coated Athens. The yellow fever infecting the trees has spread throughout the city. There aren’t too many people around. The narrator wanders about the empty streets, mourning together with the sick trees as it were. The film, which can be read as a metaphor for the crisis Greece has been going through, unfolds poetically on several layers at once. Edited by Kotzamani herself, the film is an utterly mature urban lament.
