An avant-garde experiment, a science-fiction poem, an erotic kitsch western… After Blue, which premiered in Locarno and was later screened at Toronto’s Midnight Madness section, is set in the distant future, on a wild planet called After Blue. Roxy, a lonely teenager, frees a criminal called Kate Bush buried under the sands. Just released, the criminal is on a killing spree. Held responsible, Roxy and her mother, Zora, are banished from their community and ordered to hunt down the killer. They will thus survey the supernatural territories of their planet... 'I wanted to craft an ode to film and to actresses, a singular and universal adventure borrowing the framework of westerns, the cruelty of old fairy tales and the lyricism of sci-fi,' says director Bertrand Mandico.
