Redemption and forgiveness is universal, especially when speaking about a person who has blood on their hands. 'Can such a person gain a chance at forgiveness? Our film searches for an answer to this question,' says co-director Aleksey Chupov. The titular character, captain of the secret service Fedor Volkonogov, suddenly becomes a suspect himself and is forced to go on the run and hide in the city outskirts. One night he receives a message from Hell, saying that his place there is waiting for him along with eternal torment, but he has one chance at avoiding his fate––receiving the forgiveness of at least one person to whose home he brought death. A post-modernistic parable with the elements of a mystical thriller, the latest by the directors of the series Anna Karenina and the feature The Man Who Surprised Everyone premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
