40-year-old Clara is believed to have a special connection to God; as a 'healer,' she provides hope to her village, while she finds comfort in her relationship with nature. After years of being repressed by her mother, Clara’s sexual desire is stirred when she feels attracted to her niece’s young boyfriend. This newly awakened force takes Clara into uncharted territory, allowing her to cross boundaries, both physical, mystical, and social. Costa Rican entry for the Oscars, Clara Sola premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival’s Directors' Fortnight section. Debut feature of Costa Rican-Swedish writer and director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén, Clara Sola features non-professional actors.

Scenes depicting sexuality/violence in this film might be disturbing for some viewers.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
