Leonora Addio, the first film Paolo Taviani wrote and directed without his brother, directing half Vittorio, is dedicated to him. Nobel laureate playwright Luigi Pirandello, who had inspired the directors for their 1984 masterpiece Kaos, forms the basis of this film, too. Three surreal funerals are intertwined by the murder of a Sicilian immigrant boy in Brooklyn in Leonora Addio, which takes its title from one of the writer's stories. The first part of the film tells the story of the adventurous journey of Pirandello’s ashes from Rome to Sicily, upon his final wishes. The film’s second story is an adaptation of Pirandello’s final story called The Nail, about an Italian boy in New York. Paolo and Vittorio Taviani were given the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Istanbul Film Festival in 2001.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
