Romanian director Radu Jude won the Golden Bear in Berlin with his feature Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn in 2021 and his unusual and provocative short, Plastic Semiotic premiered at Venice last fall. Inspired by Baudelaire, Baudrillard, Chekhov, and Flaubert in this collage ‘documentary,’ Jude uses a new type of ‘cliché’ that has invaded our society, that is toys, to tell the life of human beings from birth to old age. Images of innocent toys become instruments in telling a story of life that is purely cinematic with its use of camera and montage and through a dramatic change of dimension on a large screen projection.
This film will be screened together with Apartment, The Night and The Criminals.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
