Selected as the Hungarian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards (2022), Post Mortem tells the story of the German soldier Tomás (Viktor Klem) in 1918, towards the end of the First World War. Left for dead in a mass grave following an explosion, Tomás is saved by another soldier from a pile of corpses. The vision of an orphaned girl, Anna, calls Tomás back to life. Working as a post-mortem photographer offering bereaved families to pose with their dead, Tomás follows Anna and visits her village struck by the Spanish Flu. The victims of the pandemic cannot be buried due to the frozen ground, providing the post-mortem photographer with an eerily vast setting of the dead and the living, where grief is in a state of suspension.

This film is screened with the generous support of the Hungarian Cultural Centre.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
