2022 Berlin Grand Jury Prize

Hong Sang-soo’s 27th feature film, his “most passionate, loving, and tender film yet” according to some critics, modestly honours chance encounters over casual discussions about relationships, film and literature, and life itself, not on soju this time but makgeolli. A female novelist, who has stopped writing, takes a trip to visit a bookstore run by a younger colleague, who has fallen out of touch. Then she goes up a tower and runs into a film director and his wife. They take a walk in a park and meet an actress, who has been struggling the same way as she is. The novelist tries to convince the actress to make a film with her. She and the actress get something to eat, then revisit the bookstore where a group of people are drinking.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
