Northwest Turkey, the present day.
Claire, 45 years old, is a French expat who lost custody of her 9-year-old daughter, Sabrina, to her ex-husband, a local celebrity. Refusing to accept the situation, Claire runs away with the child. She pays a smuggler to sneak herself and her daughter out of the country through the Bulgarian border. But when the smuggler realizes he can make an extra profit by returning the kid to his father, he delays the crossing of the border and brings them to a dilapidated shack in the woods. There, mother and daughter are left to fend for themselves. As the smuggler doesn’t return, isolation and despair slowly take their toll on Claire. In a burst of courage, Claire resolves to complete the journey by her own means — but an unexpected event thwarts her plans.
