2021 Festival Film Indonesia Best Actress (A. Kirana)
Indonesian filmmaker Kamila Andini, acclaimed with thought- provoking social dramas, continues her impressive run of social dramas with the portrait of a teenage girl facing the prospect of arranged marriage. Yuni is a teenage girl––smart with big dreams of attending university. When two men she barely knows ask to marry her, she rejects their proposals, sparking gossip about a myth that a woman who rejects three proposals will never marry. The pressure builds up when a third man asks for her hand, and Yuni must choose between the myth of a final chance at marriage or her dream of future happiness. Indonesia's 2022 Oscar submission is a compassionate and engaging coming-of-age tale.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
