With its still relevant plot, and racially charged tension, 12 Angry Men is an excellent courtroom drama and a compelling murder mystery, with an amazing cast that includes fascinating performances of Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott–among their final roles. The film follows the jury deliberations in the murder trial of a teenage boy. Any guilty verdict will be accompanied by a mandatory death sentence. When one of the jurors dissents in the initial vote, the deliberation restarts, revealing the jurors’ values, morals, personalities, and the principles of the US judicial system. One of the made-for-TV films directed by William Friedkin, which include episodes of The Twilight Zone and CSI, 12 Angry Men is a remake of the Golden Bear-winning 1957 film of the same name directed by Sidney Lumet, both adapted to screen from Reginald Rose’s teleplay.
This film is screened with the generous support of the U.S. Mission to Turkey.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
