Pre-school is the first and last time boys and girls can learn together freely in Iran. Numb which had its world premiere at the 2023 Film Festival Rotterdam within the Tiger Competition is set in a kindergarten and follows the curious little boy Roham. Roham falls in love with his classmate Rana and discovers the complicated secrets of her personal life all the while confronting the class bully. Written, directed, and produced by Amir Toodehroosta, Numb observes some hilarious interactions between the young children and the adults who are to train rather than educate them, but eventually transforms into a darker drama about the corruption of childhood innocence and the society.
