In Martin Scorsese’s After Hours, every wrong turn on the way home leads to chaos and every moment is a wild ride. This darkly comic cult classic follows ordinary office worker Paul Hackett’s bizarre adventure as he navigates a night of absurd encounters in SoHo – including a hostile bartender, a suicide, a menacing mobster – showcasing Scorsese’s masterful blend of dark humour and psychological tension. The film was shot entirely at night to capture the eerie, nightmarish atmosphere of the city that never sleeps. After Hours stands as a testament to Scorsese’s versatility, offering a gripping portrayal of urban paranoia and the absurdity of fate in just one night. After Hours will be screened from a digital copy restored from a 35 mm print held privately by Martin Scorsese which premiered at the Berlinale in February.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
