An auto-fictional family drama disguised as a playful road film... Arthur and Diana are siblings. Together with Diana’s two-year-old son, they leave Berlin for a short, relaxed trip to Paris in their rusty old Renault. But the journey won’t be relaxed, the direction won’t be Paris and whether the car will go along is definitely questionable. Repeated tumultuous car conversations and a huge detour to Italy, ending with probably a few more friends, memorable encounters, and more hopes than they had left with. Director Sara Summa cast herself, real-life brother, and son, touching on the most difficult and delicate subjects that shape her personal and family relationships. Employing several visual, aesthetic, and technical formats switching between 16mm, Betacam, and miniDV, Arthur & Diana achieves a timeless nostalgia, ‘breathing freedom also in its form and language,’ as put by Summa. The film had its world premiere at Toronto Film Festival.

This film is screened with the kind contribution of Goethe Institut Istanbul and German Films.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
