A spiritual shaman is a crucial member of the community, a figure everyone depends on when in need of moral and spiritual guidance. What happens when that shaman is a 17-year-old high school student who must balance his profound spiritual responsibilities while also juggling another life - that of a high school student - working hard to succeed in the cold, callous society of modern Mongolia. Introducing Ze, 17-year-old, gentle shaman...Mongolia’s Oscars nominee, City of Wind, is set in the yurt districts of Ulaanbaatar, where though geographically on the margins of the city centre, they are actually the largest part of the city in area. ‘This is what I want to portray in the film: a portrait of life in Mongolia that is more of a mosaic made up of small moments and encounters that range on a scale from “traditional to modern,”’ says director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, who graduated from Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir with a BA in film direction.
This film is screened with the kind contribution of the Embassy of Portugal and the Camões Institute.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
