After his revered masterpieces The Spirit of the Beehive and El Sur, legendary filmmaker Víctor Erice comes back with Close Your Eyes, a compelling reflection about identity, loss, memory and filmmaking. Widely considered to be one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Erice is back 32 years later to mesmerize audiences with his fourth feature film, poised to become a new classic of contemporary cinema. Debuting at Cannes Premiere, Close Your Eyes turns on a famous Spanish actor, Julio Arenas, who disappears without a trace while making a film. Many years later, the mystery is brought up once more by a sensational TV show that attempts to summon the actor in spirit, offering as a scoop, images of the last scenes in which he appears. Hailed by critics as "the return of the king," Close Your Eyes is Erice’s first film since 1992’s Dream of Light.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
