Romanian auteur Radu Jude is back after Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn with yet another dizzying, relentless, hilarious social critique. Cinema, capitalism, labour, and technology meet the political sociology of the digital world in this two-part, absurdist, feminist satire. We follow Angela, an overworked and sleepless production assistant, who must drive around the city of Bucharest in order to find the casting for a “safety at work” video commissioned by a multinational company. On the other hand, we also follow the taxi driver Angela, who, in a film from the past century, encounters her future husband on the same streets. Funny and furious, the film was declared Romania’s candidate for the Oscars.
This film is screened with the kind contribution of Dimitrie Cantemir Romanian Culture Center.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
