Imagine life in a universe where time changes arbitrarily; where memory, time, and reality are fluid; where days appear randomly in the past, the present, and the future. Now, imagine love in such a universe. Embryo, Larva, Butterfly is a haunting meditation on love, loss, emotions, the fragility of life, and the paradoxes of time in a world where nothing is constant. More interested in exploring emotions than a sci-fi concept, the film follows Penelope and Isidoros, two lovers, whose love for each other remains strong despite the unusual challenges and constant uncertainty. They decide to move to someplace where time runs linearly, but the price to be paid will be high. Written and directed by Kyros Papavassiliou, Embryo, Larva, Butterfly premiered at Karlovy Vary Film Festival’s Proxima Competition, which showcases adventurous, forward-thinking, and exciting discoveries.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
