Young and fiery volleyball player Sofia’s future freedom and agency are threatened by a violent swarm mentality... and hard times require furious playing. Sophia lives in a humble and conservative Brazilian suburb. On the eve of a future-defining championship, she is faced with an unwanted pregnancy and an overwhelming choice. The neighbourhood is against her when she seeks an illegal termination, and she becomes the target of a fundamentalist group. But, Sophia has her own community: a diverse and rebellious group determined to have fun, express themselves, define their own lives, and protect each other. In this team no one is alone. Together they are powerful. Lillah Halla’s debut film that burns with anger and the joy and power of sisterhood had its world premiere at Cannes Critics’ Week.

This film is screened with the generous contribution of Instituto Guimarães Rosa.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
