Opal Coast, Northern France. In a quiet and picturesque fishing village, something finally happens: a special baby is born. A child so unique and peculiar that it unleashes a secret war between knights of interplanetary empires. Bruno Dumont whose surprising films include the epic musical Jeanne, P’tit Quinquin, and Hadewijch revisits the sci-fi genre in his own unique style, exploring the inevitable porosity of Good and Evil and playfully evoking space epics: ‘I wanted to combine serious European cinema with entertaining cinema. The landscapes you see are inner landscapes, not northern France. The spaceship is in our hearts. That’s what film is, since the dawn of time.’
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
