Split into four chapters, Happy Holidays follows an ensemble of characters – Arab and Jewish alike – living in contemporary Haifa. Family secrets, lies, domestic tensions, and untold truths are exposed after a minor accident, and four interconnected characters share their unique realities, highlighting the complexities and conflicts between genders, generations, and cultures separated by deep-set a rift: Rami, a Palestinian from Haifa; his mother, Hanan; his sister, Fifi; and Miri whose sister is pregnant from Rami. Premiering at Venice Film Festival, this is the second feature from director Scandar Copti, whose Ajami won the Human Rights in Cinema Award at Istanbul Film Festival in 2010.
