A hilarious comedy that oscillates between the surrealist and the thriller, comedy and tragedy, Plastic Guns premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. Michel Uzès is arrested during a trip to Denmark and accused of murdering his family a few years ago. His alibi is complicated by the discovery of a plastic gun at the crime scene. As he tries to clear his name, two amateur detectives try to prove his guilt. Soon enough, Michel becomes entangled in a web of lies, deceit, and increasingly bizarre circumstances involving a mysterious fugitive in Argentina. This dark comedy-drama is directed by Jean-Christophe Meurisse whose Apnée and Bloody Oranges were screened at the festival in earlier editions.
