Upon his return home for his father’s funeral, Slaven revives his relationship with Marco, a childhood friend. Because of the funeral of his father who had once kicked him out of the house, he now has to deal with relatives and neighbours, and he has to face other challenges as well. As the village is threatened by the swollen rivers, Marco and Slaven also struggle against the family restrains and their emotions. Based on the screenplay by award-winning playwright and novelist Tomislav Zajec, Sandbag Dam had its premiere at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival’s Generation 14plus section.
