Winter 1862. In the midst of the Civil War, the Union Army sends a company of volunteer soldiers to the western territories with the task of patrolling the unchartered borderlands. As their mission ultimately changes course, the soldiers endure the monotony of camp life, harsh nature conditions, and the constant threat of danger, while their sense of purpose begins to waver. The Damned is a haunting exploration of the human cost of war, an anti-western, anti-war film about a group of men whose names are insignificant but are bound by invisible bonds, moral ambiguity, fear, and an indeterminate fate.
Screened with the support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Istanbul.
