Halima, a Frenchwoman of Algerian descent living in Canada, is pregnant with her second child. When she learns that she will have a boy this time, traumatic memories resurface. Haunted by a past she has hoped to escape, Halima reluctantly allows her Québécois partner to join her on a quest to find her family in France and repair the broken bonds. Will she be able to find peace, or escape her past? Eight years after Montréal la blanche based on his documentary play about the Algerian diaspora, Bachir Bensaddek returns with a new portrait of an immigrant woman, exploring family secrets and the long process of reconstruction that follows.
