2025 Berlin FIPRESCI Prize–Panorama

Through rare and long-forgotten footage, this documentary uncovers the hidden machinery of Alfredo Stroessner’s dictatorship in Paraguay—one of history’s longest-running regimes. Stroessner’s 35-year-long regime ended in 1989, and the audiovisual archives were abandoned. From newsreels, TV broadcasts, propaganda films, and declassified documents, this fully archival journey exposes how media shaped and fuelled power, controlled memory, and built a legacy that still lingers today in Paraguay.
