Angie takes her 74-year-old father Mansour on the same journey he made 42 years ago from Brussels to Beirut. The path, however, is no longer the same. On the 4,000 km road once crossed, countries have disappeared and others were born. Some borders have faded, others have emerged. Wars were extinguished and others broke out, causing deaths, destruction and displacement. The journey of rediscovering the distance between Europe and Lebanon becomes an intimate discovery of the new father-daughter relationship beyond the borders of the traditional family context they are usually framed in. Stopping by in Istanbul as a final, crucial station, their journey traverses both similar and diverse landscapes as they try to avoid delving into sentimentality, but eventually embracing their intimate emotions once back at Lebanon – a common homeland.
