Do mothers need to make sacrifices for their children all their lives? Do they need to give up on their dreams, their passion, their self-worth when they age? Maria Angeles gracefully rebels against this notion: at 79-years-old, Maria Angeles lives alone in Tangier, Morocco, and enjoys her daily routine. However, her life is turned upside down when her daughter arrives from Madrid to sell the apartment in which she has always lived. Determined to stay, she does everything she can to get her home and her belongings back. Starring Pedro Almodóvar’ muse, the great Carmen Maura as Maria Angeles, this heartwarming, sensual journey is the third feature directed by Maryam Touzani following Adam, and The Blue Caftan. Calle Málaga was announced as Morocco’s Oscars nominee.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
