Vilnius 2022. High-flying social media executive Marija chooses the worst possible moment for an honest conversation with her husband Vytas about divorcing. As if one blow to the family is not enough, the next day, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine goes into full scale, inflaming the region. Now the couple must navigate the process of separation as it collides with a closer than home refugee and mid-life crisis. Andrius Blazevicius’ masterful debut feature begins as a domestic drama that evolves into an engrossing satire about virtue signalling, nationalism, generational clash, good intentions, and our comfort zones in our time of successive crises.
